Bill Fitzgerald is vice president and general manager, Commercial Engines Operation, at GE Aviation. In this role, he is responsible for all commercial jet engine products and global support.

Fitzgerald began his career at GE Aviation in 1983 as a member of the Manufacturing Development Program. He held several technical and operational leadership positions within supply chain in Lynn, MA, through 1997. Fitzgerald joined engine services in 1998 as the Cincinnati component repair leader, and he assumed the position of managing director for the European Engines Services operation in Cardiff, Wales, in January 2000.

In February 2001, Fitzgerald was named general manager, global supply chain at GE Transportation Systems in Erie, PA. In 2003, he became vice president and general manager of Global Operations, Services.

Fitzgerald was named vice president and general manager of Assembly, Test and Overhaul in December 2008. In this role, he worked to bring the manufacturing and services sites together into a single organization to share best practices and processes. He was appointed vice president and general manager of the GEnx Product Line in 2010 in which he was responsible for the GEnx engine, which is one of the fastest selling engines in GE Aviation's history. He was named to his current position in December 2011.

Fitzgerald holds a Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master's degree in manufacturing engineering from Boston University. He is a graduate of GE's Advanced Manufacturing course. He serves on the advisory board of the National Professional Science Master's Association (NPSMA).
