--EVENDALE, Ohio - US Airways has awarded a 20-year contract to GE Engine Services, Inc. for the maintenance and overhaul of CFM56-5 engines ordered by the airline to power its new Airbus Industrie A319/A320/A321 fleet.

The Arlington, Virginia-based airline also announced today it selected the CFM56-5B/P to power as many as 400 new aircraft.

"We are extremely pleased that US Airways has selected GE Engine Services to support its fleet well into the next century," said Bill Vareschi, president of GE Engine Services. "We are looking forward to further strengthening the relationship we have developed with this airline as we provide total engine maintenance support."

GE's MCPHSM program provides maintenance support, on a flat rate per flying hour basis, specifically tailored to each participating airline's needs.

GE Engine Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Company and a division of GE Aircraft Engines, overhauls and repairs aircraft engines and aeroderivative engines for marine and industrial applications, as well as engine components and accessories. GE Engine Services, which is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently acquired Greenwich Air Services and UNC Incorporated and now operates facilities in Wales, Brazil, Scotland, and Singapore and at several locations in the United States.
