Engine Overview
The CF6-80E1 is the solution for many airlines' daily operational dilemmas - how to move more people, farther, at a lower cost and with confidence in the reliability of the product.
By designing the CF6-80E1 specifically for the Airbus A330, GE was able to bring together the newest technology to provide the market with an engine with the lowest weight, lowest fuel burn, proven stall free operation and the most reliability to enable operators to maximize the potential of the A330.
The CF6-80E1 is the latest technology in the CF6 family, built on a tradition of reliability and infused with GE's latest technology from the GEnx. These technology advancements include a 3-D aerodynamic compressor and R88DT high pressure turbine, which delivers improved durability and enhanced performance retention. These features allow the CF6-80E1 to offer fuel efficiency, improved EGT margin, reduced emissions, increased time-on-wing and lower maintenance costs.
Rated at 72,000 lbs. of thrust, the CF6-80E1A3 is the highest thrust CF6 engine offered to date. GE is the only engine manufacturer to provide a flexible thrust option. CF6-80E1A4/B provides the flexibility of increased thrust capability plus the benefit of reduced maintenance cost. Since its introduction in 2003, the A4/B has been the most popular engine thrust rating.
