The architecture design for the GEnx-2B was finalized in May 2006, refining the basic GEnx design to meet the thrust and installation requirements of the Boeing 747-8 intercontinental and Freighter aircraft. The GEnx-2B engine maintains the low fuel burn, emissions and noise characteristics proven on the GEnx-1B engine.
