February 22nd, 2007, marked another success in GE's flight test history as the new GEnx engine took flight for the first time (full press release) on board GE's 747-100 flying test bed in Victorville, CA. The engine completed more than four hours of flawless in-flight operation, attaining the following first flight goals:
The 747-100 was commanded by Captain Phil Schultz and First Officer Gary Possert. Together, they have more than 80 years of overall flight experience, including 25 years in flight test.
