Engine Overview
The F404-GE-102 engine, a derivative of the F404-GE-402 engine, was developed by GE and Korea Aerospace Industries.
The F404-GE-102 powers the T-50 advanced trainer/light fighter developed by Korea Aerospace Industries and Lockheed Martin.
Engine qualification was completed in 2001. The T-50 / A-50 completed its first flight in August 2002, with first production engine delivery in 2005, and the first production T-50 aircraft was delivered to the Korean Air Force in 2005.
The F404-GE-102 incorporates single-engine redundancy and reliability features, plus an advanced FADEC (full authority digital electronic control) derived from GE's F414-GE-400 engine.
