The UH-60L Black Hawk is the world's most advanced twin-turbine military helicopter. It is powered by twin General Electric T700-GE-701C turboshaft engines rated at 1,890 shp each, plus the 3,400 shp Improved Durability Gearbox, and heavy-duty flight controls developed for the naval S-70B Seahawk. The UH-60L is cleared to 22,000 lb gross weight for internal loads, and can carry 9,000 lb external loads.

Military forces use the Black Hawk in desert conditions, arctic climates and hot and high conditions. GE's T700 engine helps the helicopter carry up to 11 troops, fully equipped.

The UH-60 was made to fly soldiers into combat.

The T700-powered Black Hawk provides the platform for a wide range of derivatives, including EH-60A electronic warfare aircraft, MH-60K Special Operations aircraft, the VH-60 executive transport helicopter, the U.S. Air Force's HH-60G Pave Hawk, the U.S. Navy's Seahawk family of helicopters and the U.S. Coast Guard's HH-60J Jayhawk for search and rescue.
