Structures and Mission Equipment optimized for military applications
GE Aviation's broad capability in aerostructures ranges from complete landing gear systems to wing trailing edge and fuselage sections. Our expertise goes further to meet specific mission needs in fuel tanks, refueling probes, and pylons. We can undertake full design and qualification activity on many of these components, or equally deliver optimized manufacture of existing designs.
Landing Gear Systems and Structures
GE Aviation has unparalleled experience in landing gear systems for unmanned aircraft (UAVs), providing the system for the Northrop Grumman X-47B, building on experience on multiple other UAVs as well as manned aircraft such as the T-38 trainer.
GE Aviation has extensive experience in delivering fuel tanks and pods in metallic, composite and combinations of the two, including external tanks for F-18 and Typhoon.
GE Aviation’s product line spans fighter aircraft such as Eurofighter Typhoon to large military transport aircraft including the Airbus A400M. Full design and qualification capability is available, and customer designs are also manufactured at our sites in the United States and United Kingdom.
GE Aviation has full design, development and qualification capability for pylons, as demonstrated by its content on the Boeing P-8A Poseidon.
Aerostructures and Transparencies
Our capability can be applied to multiple structures on aircraft, with a strong emphasis on wing trailing edge structure, and transparencies, including the canopy for the BAE Systems Hawk aircraft.
