GE90 Completes Successful First Flight
EVENDALE, Ohio - The first GE90-powered Boeing 777 successfully completed its maiden flight on February 2, with the two GE90 engines performing flawlessly.
During the five-hour-and-twenty-minute test flight at Seattle, Washington, more than 40,000 measurements were taken of avionics data, electrical signals, hydraulic pressures, speed, and altitude.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certified the super-high-thrust GE90 this month, and certification of the GE-powered 777 is scheduled for August.
The GE90-powered 777 will enter service with launch customer British Airways in September.
