Once a PBN procedure has been designed, it's imperative that terrain and obstacles along the flight path be monitored to insure the continued safety and integrity of the procedure. GE provides ongoing PBN maintenance services to keep procedures safe and to insure they are continuously delivering the expected level of benefit. Additionally, over time, as the types of aircraft flying a particular procedure change, or as surrounding traffic patterns change, it's often possible to refine and improve the PBN flight path. GE provides PBN optimization services and can continuously improve existing PBN procedures.
To insure daily availability of PBN procedures, GE monitors changes in runway infrastructure, terrain, obstacles and other relevant information to determine if recent changes may affect a procedure's usability. Once an alert is identified, we evaluate whether it is relevant to the procedure, and revise the path as necessary.
PBN procedures are easily adaptable – why not take advantage of that? GE optimization services provide for modification of in-service PBN procedures when a change is identified that may be advantageous or provide additional benefit. Typically, procedures are optimized in response to changing airspace and environmental and operational requirements, with opportunities to improve the efficiency of the design.
