GE Aerospace is a world-leader in designing and producing commercial and military jet/helicopter engines and components, as well as integrated digital, electric power, and mechanical aircraft systems –all supported by a global service network. GE Aerospace’s Lynn facility has a history that dates back more than 130 years and is recognized as one of the founding sites of the General Electric Company.

The site is home to the first U.S. jet engine (1942) and other prominent aviation industry milestones. The Lynn plant is recognized as a U.S. Department of Defense facility that designs, produces, assembles, and tests military and commercial aircraft engines and components.

The Lynn facility is focused on its mission to support the warfighter and its commercial aviation customers. The team there is determined to continuously enhance the quality of its products and ensure timely engine and component deliveries. Facility leadership is incorporating Lean principles to improve the plant’s processes and investing approximately 36millionin equipment and infrastructure in 2021 to upgrade operations, all in support of GE customers.

The focus is on promoting core manufacturing competencies that will make the site success. To further spur interest in manufacturing careers more broadly, the GE Foundation is funding a $2.5million grant to launch an Advanced Manufacturing Training Expansion Program (AMTEP) focused in Lynn and the North Shore of Massachusetts. The program will help address the skills gap in the region by supporting and coordinating advanced manufacturing training for residents and connecting them to full-time employment to meet the needs of manufacturing employers.

GE Lynn’s products are steeped in innovation, and the facility is constantly evolving and creating new technology to introduce the next generation of engines and enhance the existing product line.

The team is proud to employ more than 2,500+ employees, some of the sharpest technical minds in the entire aerospace industry. Engineers work closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure proper design development and integration.

Engine lines are the T700/CT7, F414, F404, T408 and CF34.

    The Lynn facility has invested $900,000 and partnered with IUE-CWA Local 201 to develop the Riverworks Manufacturing Academy, a paid, internal training program designed to help promote manufacturing excellence and build careers.       GE Aerospace is no stranger to answering the call when urgent national needs demand it. In fact, Lynn played a pivotal role in our nation’s defense during WWII, including developing the country’s first jet engine, the legendary GE I-A.

      Today, Lynn workers continue that proud tradition, and operations are deemed part of the nation’s essential infrastructure, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security.
