GE Business Jet Operations Center To Support Walter Engines Operators

October 08, 2008

ORLANDO, FLA. (NBAA) -- While celebrating the one-year anniversary of its successful Business Jet Operations Center, GE Aviation is moving quickly to provide operators of Walter M601 turboprop engines with the same GE support umbrella.

A year ago, GE Aviation established the Business Jet Operations Center at its headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. The center provides rapid and single-contact support to operators of business jets powered by thousands of GE's CF34, CF700, and CJ610 engines, as well as CFM International's CFM56 engines.

This past summer, GE Aviation acquired certain assets of Walter Engines in the Czech Republic, established GE Aviation Czech as a new division to produce Walter Aircraft Engines, and announced a future Walter turboprop derivative, the M601H-80, for utility, agriculture and retrofit aircraft.

Also, GE is creating a better support network for Walter M601 turboprop operators, which will also be supported through the Business Jet Operations Center -– an around-the-clock operation with product support technicians available to ensure a rapid response to such needs as parts availability, trouble-shooting, and field issues.

"Right now, we are identifying and contacting M601 operators," said Brad Mottier, vice president and general manager of GE Aviation's new Business and General Aviation division. "By year's end, we plan to provide these operators with the same single-point of contact at our Operations Center, which has clearly enhanced our relationships with business jet customers."

Through the Business Jet Operations Center, M601 customers will be linked to GE customer product technicians. M610 engines are overhauled at GE's recently established Walter Aircraft Engines facility in Prague. GE is exploring partnerships with mobile repair parties for M610 support in the Western Hemisphere, as well as M610 engine lease pools.

In Cincinnati, GE Aviation already supports the world's largest fleet of airline aircraft engines through its around-the-clock Product Support Center. It has become the cornerstone for GE's reputation for superior customer support. The Business Jet Operations Center has capitalized on its considerable experience and expertise.
