Air Lease Purchases CF34-Powered EMBRAER E190 Aircraft

June 20, 2011

LE BOURGET -- Air Lease Corporation has ordered five CF34-10E-powered EMBRAER E190 aircraft. The engine deal is valued at approximately $70 million (USD) list price.

"Short-haul aircraft demand reliable and fuel efficient technology, which is why we are pleased to have 30 CF34-10E-powered EMBRAER E190s in our fleet," said John Poerschke, Senior Vice President of Air Lease Corporation.

"GE Aviation is thrilled to be a part of the growing Air Lease Corporation fleet," said Kevin McAllister, vice president and general manager of Global Sales at GE Aviation. "The CF34-10E engine has performed very well in the field with excellent reliability that has set a standard in the regional jet segment of aviation."

GE's CF34-10E engine has the highest thrust rating for the CF34 engine family at 20,000 pounds. By July, 1,000 CF34-10E engines will be in service with 43 customers. The engine continues to perform well in the field, accumulating more than 5 million flight-hours and 3 million cycles. The CF34-10E engine powers the EMBRAER 190/195 aircraft as well as the Embraer Lineage 1000 business jet.

Key CF34-10 design features include: a wide-chord fan blade for higher thrust and high tolerance to foreign object damage; 3-D aerodynamic design airfoils throughout the entire flow path, providing highly efficient, stall-free operation, as well as better fuel burn and higher exhaust gas temperature margins; a highly durable single annular, low-emissions combustor that meets or surpasses the most stringent emissions standards; and a single-stage high-pressure turbine for lower operating cost.
