DSF Place $320 Million CF34-8C Engine Order

LE BOURGET - Deutsch Structure Finance (DSF), a leasing company based in Frankfurt, Germany, announced today at the Paris Air Show that it had placed an order for GE's CF34-8C engines to power 50 firm, 30 option Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft. The total value of the engine order is $320 million.This is the first order DSF has placed for CF34-powered aircraft. Delivery of the firm aircraft is scheduled to begin in early 2003 and continue through mid-2009.The CF34-8C1 turbofan engine, rated at 14,000 pounds takeoff thrust, entered service earlier this year with launch customer Brit Air as the exclusive powerplant for the Bombardier Aerospace CRJ700 70-passenger regional jet.GE Aircraft Engines is also developing growth derivatives of the -8C1, including CF34-8C5, -8D and -8E. Each of these engines will be concurrently certified during the second quarter of 2002. These engines share common turbomachinery and are all rated at 14,500 pounds (64 kN) thrust.Total firm orders for the entire series of CF34-8 engines currently exceeds 870, and options exceed 1,320. Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI). IHI is a risk-and-revenue-sharing participant in the CF34-8 program and is responsible for the development and production of approximately 30 percent of the engine.
