Garuda Indonesia Orders CF34-powered Bombardier CRJs

EVENDALE, OHIO -- Garuda Indonesia has placed an order for six firm CF34-8C-powered Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen regional jets with an option to purchase 18 additional aircraft. The engine deal is valued at more than $50 million (USD) list price.

"The CRJ1000 NextGen offers customers improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions along with the outstanding reliability inherent in the CF34 engine family."

The 100-seater CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft is the largest member of Bombardier's CRJ family and is designed for high-frequency regional routes. Garuda Indonesia will be the Asia-Pacific launch customer for the aircraft.

Garuda Indonesia was established in 1949. Based at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport near Jakarta, Garuda has a fleet of 92 commercial aircraft serving 31 domestic and 19 international destinations.

The CF34-8C5A1 engine that powers the CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft engine is the newest CF34-8 variant. More than 2,000 CF34-8 engines are in service on Bombardier's CRJ700 (CF34-8C5B1) and CRJ900 (CF34-8C5) and EMBRAER's 170/175 (CF34-8E5) aircraft. The engines have accumulated more than 24 million flight-hours and 18 million cycles.
