Styrian Spirit to Be First European CF34-8C5B1 Operator

May 24, 2005

EVENDALE, OHIO - Styrian Spirit is the first airline to order the Bombardier CRJ700* aircraft equipped with the advanced GE CF34-8C5B1 engine, and will be the first European operator when it takes delivery of its first CRJ700 airliner in June of this year. Bombardier has selected the GE latest generation CF34-8C5B1 to become the new production standard engine for the CRJ700 model.

Styrian, which currently operates four Bombardier CRJ200* airliners powered by the CF34-3 engine, will take advantage of the costs savings the engine offers, including up to 15 percent lower maintenance costs over 15 years.

The CF34-8C5B1 becomes the common engine configuration for both the Bombardier CRJ700 and CRJ900* aircraft when it is certified in May of this year. The common engine will simplify fleet management and reduce the spare engine investment for operators with mixed CRJ700/CRJ900 fleets.

In addition to the new product configuration, GE is also offering an upgrade package to existing operators. The package would be installed at the first major shop visit.

Styrian Spirit, founded in 2002, provides scheduled service to six locations throughout Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, and France from its bases is Graz and Salzburg, Austria.

GE Transportation, Aircraft Engines, a part of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), is one of the world's leading manufacturers of jet engines for civil and military aircraft. GE Transportation is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
