China Airlines Selects GE Engines in $400 Million Order

EVENDALE, OHIO - China Airlines, the leading carrier of Taiwan, has chosen 13 GE CF6-80C2-powered Boeing 747-400F (freighter) aircraft in an engine order valued at more than $400 million.

A first-time customer of GE, Taipei-based China Airlines is scheduled to take delivery of the aircraft beginning in July 2000.

GE Aircraft Engines, a world leader in the design, production and support of jet engines for commercial, military, and marine and industrial applications, has currently in service more than 50,000 engines with more than 330 million flight hours of experience. The CF6 family of engines has accumulated more than 180 million flight hours with more than 150 customers, while enjoying a dispatch reliability rate of 99.94 and a basic in-flight shutdown rate of 0.008.
