China Airlines Takes Delivery of GE CF6-powered Airbus A330 Aircraft

June 29, 2004

TOULOUSE, FRANCE - In a ceremony held here today, China Airlines, the leading carrier of Taiwan, took delivery of its first Airbus A330-300 aircraft, powered by the GE's CF6-80E1 engines.

Last year, Taipei-based China Airlines selected GE's CF6 engines to power 12 Airbus A330-300s. China Airlines currently operates 33 aircraft, powered by GE and CFM56 engines, produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of GE and Snecma Moteurs of France.

GE's CF6 engine family has been the most reliable and best-selling commercial engine on wide body aircraft. CF6 engines have flown more hours than any other high-bypass engine family, powering more than 10 models of wide-body aircraft. In recent years, the engine family has also played a major role in military aviation in powering transports, tankers and surveillance aircraft.

GE Transportation - Aircraft Engines, part of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), is one of the world's leading manufacturers of jet engines for civil and military aircraft. In addition, GE Transportation - Aircraft Engines provides comprehensive maintenance support, through its GE Engine Services operation, for GE and non-GE jet engines in service throughout the world.
