GE Engines to Power Philippine Airlines 747-400s

September 04, 1996

FARNBOROUGH - GE CF6-80C2 turbofan engines have been selected to power the seven new Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets ordered today by Philippine Airlines (PAL).

The value of the engine order exceeds $150 million.

The PAL fleet currently includes CF6-powered 747s and Boeing 737 aircraft powered by CFM56-3 turbofan engines, which are produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of Snecma of France and GE.

"The selection of our engines by a valued customer with whom we have enjoyed such a long relationship is especially meaningful to us, for it reaffirms Philippine Airlines' confidence in our company and our engines," said Chuck Chadwell, vice president and general manager of Commercial Engines for GE Aircraft Engines.
