GECAS Places $500 Million Engine Order for CF6-80C2 Engines

EVENDALE, OHIO - GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has ordered GE CF6-80C2 engines to power 20 Boeing wide-body aircraft in an engine order valued at more than $500 million.

GECAS ordered 15 twin-engine 767-300ERs (extended range) and five 747-400 freighters, each powered by four CF6-80C2 engines. Deliveries of these jetliners are scheduled to begin in 2000 and continue through 2004. The CF6-80C2 is the best-selling engine worldwide for the 767 and 747-400 aircraft.

The CF6-80C2 is part of GE Aircraft Engines' CF6 engine family, the most reliable aircraft engines powering a variety of widebody commercial aircraft. The engine of choice of more than 150 customers, the CF6 family enjoys a dispatch reliability rate of 99.94 percent after more than 190 million flight hours.
