September 28, 2018

HANGZHOU, China — Zhejiang Loong Airlines (Loong Air) today has signed an agreement with GE Aviation to extend the current collaboration in digital. Under this agreement, GE Aviation will provide the flight analytics Event Measurement System (EMS) and professional services to enhance flight safety, optimize operational efficiency and reduce operational cost for the airline’s fleet.

"Loong Air has built up a long-term cooperation with GE Aviation,” said Qihong Liu, Chairman of Zhejiang Loong Airlines. "It has always been our goal to be the leader of digital and information technology in the civil aviation industry. We will count on the technical advantages and professional service provided by GE Aviation to accelerate our rapid development."

GE Aviation’s flight analytics is a highly comprehensive flight data processing system providing unparalleled functionality, accuracy, and speed. The system can integrate disparate data sources, including flight data, weather, navigation, flight plans, and other operational data, and uses a powerful analytics engine to extract valuable insights for airline customers.  Leveraging this system, GE Aviation’s digital team in China will also provide professional analytics services of flight risk, operation efficiency and maintenance.

“The sophisticated flight analytics, together with the local team’s experience will enable our customers to better manage operations with data-driven solutions,” said John Mansfield, chief digital officer for GE Aviation.

“GE established a strong relationship with Loong Air from the very beginning,” said Weiming Xiang, vice president of GE and president of GE Aviation Greater China. “Loong Air is also one of the early customers of our digital solutions in China and we are truly excited to further expand this connection.”

Loong Air and GE Aviation started their relationship in 2012 and extended into digital collaboration in 2015, when the airline selected GE Aviation’s Flight Efficiency Services to provide flight data analytics and fuel management. As one of the fastest growing airlines in China, Loong Air has a total of more than 70 aircraft in-service and on order, 100% powered by CFM/LEAP engines. CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines.
