Delta Air Lines Signs 10-Year GE90 OnPoint Solution Agreement with GE Aviation

June 12, 2009

EVENDALE, OH -- Delta Air Lines has signed a 10-year OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation for the maintenance and overhaul of the GE90-110B1L2 engines, powering its entire Boeing 777-200LR fleet.

"We are pleased to enter this agreement with General Electric," said Bob Currey, Delta TechOps Managing Director - Supply Chain. "GE is an established engine maintenance provider that has partnered with Delta to help us maintain a safe and reliable 777-200 LR fleet."

"Delta Air Lines has been an important engine customer to GE Aviation for many years," said Kevin McAllister, vice president and general manager of Sales for GE Aviation. "This is the first OnPoint solution agreement between GE Aviation and Delta Air Lines, and we look forward to demonstrating our service capabilities to meet the needs of Delta's GE90 engine fleet."

With more than 860 GE90 engines powering Boeing 777s in service today, the engine fleet is now entering the regular maintenance phase of its 30+ year life cycle in operation. GE Aviation's backlog of OnPoint Solution Agreements for the GE90 fleet has an estimated value of approximately $8 billion.

Due to the popularity of the twin-engine Boeing 777s, the GE90 fleet has expanded rapidly in the past decade. GE90 engine production rates have almost tripled in the last five years from 58 engines delivered in 2004 to 149 engines delivered in 2008. The GE90-115B-powered long-range Boeing 777s have proven to be extremely popular with customers worldwide, with nearly 1,100 of these engines sold.

The GE90-115B engine is the world's largest, highest-thrust engine and powers the Boeing 777-200LR, -300ER and Freight aircraft. The engine is among the quietest per pound of thrust and exhibits superior fuel consumption and low overall emissions due in part to an improved combustor. The combustor meets all 2008 international emissions standards with margin, including releasing just 40 percent of allowable hydrocarbons.

Snecma (SAFRAN Group), Avio SpA. of Italy, and IHI of Japan are revenue-sharing participants in the GE90 program.

The GE90-115B engine is part of GE's "ecomagination" product portfolio--GE's commitment to develop new, cost-effective technologies that enhance customers' environmental and operating performance.
