Emirates Airlines Orders $2.5 Billion in GE90 Engines and OnPoint Solution Services from GE

November 21, 2005

DUBAI - Emirates Airlines has ordered 42 extended-range Boeing 777 aircraft, all powered by GE90 engines, with purchase rights for an additional 20 aircraft.

These GE90-115B engines will be covered by a 12-year, OnPointSM Solution service agreement with GE for maintenance and overhaul.

The combined value of the GE90 engine purchase and OnPoint Solution agreement for GE is more than $2.5 billion (USD).

Under the terms of the agreement, Emirates Airlines will purchase 24 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 777-200LRs and eight 777 freighters, with purchase rights for an additional 20 aircraft. All of these aircraft models are powered by the GE90-115B, the world's most powerful jet engine.

One of the world's fastest growing airlines, Emirates already operates CF6-powered Airbus A310s and CFM56-powered A340s. In 2003, Emirates Airlines leased 26 GE90-powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and ordered four additional aircraft. The GE90s powering these aircraft are also maintained through an OnPoint Solution agreement from GE.

The airline began operating seven aircraft from this order in April 2005. The airline also has placed orders for 43 A380 aircraft powered by the GP7200 engines produced by the Engine Alliance, a 50/50 joint company of GE and Pratt & Whitney.

The GE90-115B is part of GE's "ecomagination" product portfolio--GE's commitment to develop new, cost-effective technologies that enhance customers' environmental and operating performance.

The GE90-115B is certified at an unprecedented 115,000 pounds (512 kN) thrust. More than 200 GE90 engines have been ordered in 2005. Snecma of France, Avio SpA. of Italy, and IHI of Japan are revenue sharing participants in the GE90 program.

OnPoint Solutions are flexible long-term commitments designed to meet customers' unique engine service needs. Backed by GE's world-class support, these solutions are designed to increase asset value and utilization and improve operating efficiencies.
