GE Congratulates Japan Airlines for First GE90 Overhaul

September 02, 2005

NARITA CITY, JAPAN - General Electric congratulates Japan Airlines (JAL) on the completion of its first GE90 engine overhaul at JAL's GE90 Center of Excellence (CoE) facility at the Narita International Airport in Narita City, Japan.

JAL opened the GE90 CoE in 2004 as a regional provider of overhaul, maintenance and repair for GE90 engines. This engine is the first GE90 overhauled in Asia. As the Boeing 777 fleet expands, the number of GE90 engines being serviced at JAL's GE90 CoE is expected to grow.

JAL is known for its outstanding technical capabilities and engineering excellence. The airline recently launched its own Six Sigma program, called the J-Core Program. The J-Core Program will further enhance JAL's GE90 CoE service quality and strengthen the relationship between JAL and GE.

"The JAL Center of Excellence is a great combination of the airline's skilled operations and our OEM technology coming together to benefit the customer," said Dan Heintzelman, president of GE Transportation's Aircraft Engine Services operation. "With the successful completion of this overhaul, JAL has established itself as a leading MRO provider for GE90 customers in Asia. We will continue to work together to ensure JAL has access to the latest OEM technology to help the airline and its MRO customers."
