FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW -- With more than 1,400 GE90 engines in service, the GE90 engine family has accumulated more than 30 million flight hours.

"The GE90 engine family entered service in 1995, and we are proud to reach the 30 million flight hour mark," said Bill Millhaem, general manager of the GE90 engine program at GE Aviation. "With more than 950 GE90-powered Boeing 777 aircraft on order, we expect the flight hours to grow exponentially over the next few years as we deliver these engines."

In March, GE Aviation celebrated the delivery of its 1,000 GE90-115B engine. The GE90-115B engine entered service in 2004 and powers the Boeing 777-300ERs, 777-200LRs and 777 Freighters. Last year, the GE90 engine experienced its most successful year and accumulated airline and freighter operator commitments for 400 engines, including a record-setting Emirates' order for 50 GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777s. This surpassed the 2007 record of 250 engine commitments in a year.

The GE90 production levels continue to grow. GE Aviation will produce more than 180 GE90 engines this year up from 170 engines in 2011. The production rate is expected to climb to 225 engines in 2014.

Snecma of France, Avio SpA of Italy and IHI Corporation of Japan are revenue-sharing participants in the GE90 program.
