ANA HOLDINGS Selects GEnx Engines for Additional 787 Dreamliner Order

February 25, 2020

EVENDALE, OH -- ANA HOLDINGS selected the GEnx-1B engine to power its additional 15 firm Boeing 787 Dreamliner with five options.

“GE Aviation is honored by ANA’s decision to select the GEnx engine to power its incremental order of 787 Dreamliner aircraft, and we look forward to working together to introduce the engines into ANA’s fleet,” said Jason Tonich, Vice President and General Manager of Global Sales and Marketing at GE Aviation.

The GEnx engine will join ANA’s extensive fleet of GE- and CFM-powered aircraft. ANA operates GE90, CF6 engines and CFM International*’s CFM56 engines. The airline has orders for the GE9X engine to power its Boeing 777X and LEAP-1A engines for its Airbus A320neo.

Since its launch 15 years ago, the GEnx engine has order for more than 2,500 engines, making it the fastest selling high-thrust engine in GE’s history. The GEnx engine combined the most advanced technologies and materials, enabling high reliability and utilization, lower fuel burn and longer range compared to GE’s CF6 engine.

GEnx’s revenue-sharing participants are IHI Corporation of Japan, GKN Aerospace Engine Systems of the UK, MTU of Germany, TechSpace Aero (Safran) of Belgium, Safran Aircraft Engines of France and Samsung Techwin of Korea.
