GE and PZL Rzeszow Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Evaluate Gas Turbine Industrial Markets in Poland
EVENDALE, Ohio, USA and RZESZOW, Poland - GE Marine & Industrial Engines (GE) and PZL Rzeszow have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pursue the evaluation of a joint marketing and manufacturing program for the GE aeroderivative gas turbines for industrial applications in Poland.
GE and PZL Rzeszow recognize the impending need for additional natural gas transmission lines and for increased power generation to support the growing Polish economy. Initial projects currently evaluating the use of gas turbines are the new EuRoPol GAZ pipeline, and several cities and factories with medium size power generation and district heating requirements.
GE's LM family is the best-selling aeroderivative gas turbine product line worldwide for these applications, with more than 2,000 engines manufactured which have accumulated over 26 million operating hours. Utilization of the proven LM technology will provide Polish industry the benefit of reduced operating costs from gas turbines with high efficiency, high reliability, long service life and low NOx and CO emissions.
The program under evaluation would begin with the assembly, inspection and test of the LM gas turbines at the PZL Rzeszow facilities. Completed engines would then ship to one of ten current Original Equipment Manufacturers that package GE LM gas turbines with gas compressors or electrical generators into complete systems for sale to the operating plants. After installation, PZL Rzeszw and GE would assist the Polish operators with direct technical support to insure maximum reliability and cost effective maintenance.
PZL Rzeszow, founded in 1938, has a successful history of manufacturing over 32,000 aircraft engines. Current products for domestic and export markets include turboshaft, turboprop and turbojet aircraft engines, helicopter transmissions, turbochargers, gearboxes and many engine components, manufactured to ISO 9001 quality certification.
GE Marine & Industrial Engines is a division of GE Aircraft Engines, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of jet engines for commercial and military fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, as well as the LM aeroderivative gas turbines for marine propulsion, power generation and natural gas transmission applications.
