GE Aviation announces partnership with Red Bike Cincinnati

May 20, 2022

CINCINNATI, Ohio – In celebration of Bike to Work Day, GE Aviation is proud to announce its new sponsorship of Red Bike, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit offering bike-share services across Greater Cincinnati. GE Aviation is the first corporate sponsor of Red Bike’s new fleet of E-bikes, which are hybrid bicycles powered by pedaling and an electric motor to improve accessibility for more people.

Additionally, GE Aviation is sponsoring two Red Bike stations located in downtown Cincinnati: one at Second and Rosa Parks streets in front of the GE Global Operations Center at The Banks and the other at Fifth and Elm streets near the Cincinnati Convention Center.

The sponsorship will provide Red Bike with funding to expand its services across the region. The partnership with Red Bike aligns with GE’s goals to develop aircraft engines and systems that reduce CO2 emissions in flight, produce those products with less CO2 emissions and waste, and improve community connectivity.

“At GE Aviation, we believe the world works better when it flies — and in partnership with Red Bike — when it rides. Our commitment to becoming carbon neutral in our operations by 2030 benefits the communities where we operate and where our employees live. That’s why we’re very pleased to support Red Bike in its mission to provide low-cost, lower-carbon transportation to the region,” said Joe Allen, chief diversity officer at GE Aviation, and executive sponsor of the company’s Green Team, an employee resource group focused on projects that help improve GE’s sustainability.

GE Aviation is sponsoring 20 of Red Bike’s new E-bikes, which will sport GE branding. Corporate sponsorships like this one are critical for Red Bike to maintain the high-quality service its riders have come to expect.

“We like to joke that you feel like you’re flying when you’re on one of our electric-assist e-bikes. Well, that is becoming closer to the truth with this new partnership with GE Aviation,” said Jason Barron, executive director of Red Bike. “GE Aviation is one of the most iconic companies in Cincinnati, and we are overjoyed to have their support to help us get Cincinnatians riding bikes. Bike to Work Day is the perfect time to announce this new partnership and encourage everyone to put a little more pedaling into their lives.”

GE Aviation is rising to the challenge of building a world that works with industry-leading technology and innovation. GE’s goal is to be carbon neutral in our facilities and operations by 2030. Additionally, employees worldwide are already developing the company’s next-generation of technologies to achieve greater fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions for the future of flight with an ambition to be a net-zero company by 2050, encompassing Scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products.
