GE Engine Services Awarded Contract from United Airlines
EVENDALE, Ohio - GE Engine Services Inc. has been awarded a contract, valued at an estimated $100 million, to overhaul and repair CF6-6 engines powering DC-10-10 aircraft in the United Airlines fleet during the period that the aircraft are transitioned to the fleet of Federal Express.
All work will be performed at GE Engine Services' West Coast Operation at Ontario, California.
"We welcome this opportunity to work on United Airlines' -6 engines, particularly since they will enter service with Federal Express, another valued GE engine customer," said Bill Vareschi, president of GE Engine Services.
GE Engine Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Company, with revenues of approximately $2 billion in 1995, provides comprehensive overhaul and repair of aircraft engines, components, and accessories at facilities not only at Ontario, but also at: Cincinnati, Ohio; Strother Field, near Arkansas City, Kansas; Nantgarw, Wales, United Kingdom; Petropolis, Brazil; and Singapore.
