GE Engine Services Forecasts $5 Billion in Sales for 1998

September 07, 1998

FARNBOROUGH - Through acquisitions, joint ventures, and new product offerings, GE Engine Services, the world leader in total aviation services, is on track for a record sales year of nearly $5 billion in 1998.

Sales in 1998 will increase by more than 65 percent over 1997 sales of $3 billion, and more than double 1996 sales of $2.3 billion.

1998 has been an extraordinary year for GE Engines Services, which has successfully integrated its 1997 acquisition of Greenwich Air Services and UNC Inc., completed several strategic joint ventures, and developed new products to help customers manage costs, increase engine time on wing, and lower overall cost of ownership.

Recent new joint ventures include GE-Harris Aviation Solutions, LLC, formed in July between GE Engine Services and Harris Corporation. The new company provides one-of-a-kind information systems and services to transmit and receive a wide range of information-including aircraft and engine data, cockpit data, and cabin services-directly to and from aircraft, enabling airline customers to monitor and analyze data more easily and faster.

The pioneer of front-line aircraft engine support, GE Engine Services is growing its GE On-Wing Support network to 20 locations in the next two years. Currently operating from Heathrow Airport in London, U.K.; Luton Airport, near London; and the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, near Cincinnati, Ohio, On-Wing SupportSM dispatches rapid response teams to airline customers worldwide 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Additional sites opening this year include Dallas, New York, Miami and multiple locations in China.

GE Engine Services, which has its headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, provides comprehensive overhaul and repair of aircraft engines, components, and accessories of GE Aircraft Engines and CFM International, the 50/50 joint company of Snecma of France and General Electric Company of the United States, as well as engines produced by other manufacturers.

GE Engine Services has overhaul and repair facilities at Nantgarw, Wales; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Ontario, California; Strother Field, near Arkansas City, Kansas; Miami, Florida; Fort Worth/Dallas, Texas; Prestwick, Scotland; Petropolis, Brazil; and Cincinnati, Ohio, and at Garrett Aviation Services' six Total Aircraft Service SM Centers.
