GE Engine Services Introduces CF34 Maintenance Cost Per Hour Program

September 28, 2000

GE Engine Services, Inc., the world's leading provider of aviation services, has announced the GE CF34 Maintenance Cost Per Hour SM (MCPH SM) program for Challenger ® 601 and 604 corporate jets. GE's highly successful MCPHSM programs maintain engines on a predictable cost per engine flight hour basis, enabling airlines to accurately forecast operating costs, reduce cost of ownership, and improve asset utilization. After listening to Challenger 601 and 604 operators regarding maintenance requirements and preferences, GE developed and refined this service offering. The CF34 MCPH program, similar to GE's successful MCPH programs for its large commercial engines, will further enhance the maintenance and cost management benefits that GE already offers 601 and 604 operators. GE designated its Strother Field maintenance operation in Kansas to spearhead service delivery for the CF34 MCPH program, which will feature industry-leading turntimes, on-call worldwide field team support, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.Strother has repaired aircraft engines for more than 45 years and has performed more than 1500 CF34 shop visits. It is a key part of GE's global network of more than 60 maintenance facilities worldwide. The dedicated, 70,000-square-foot CF34 complex is ideally suited because it is integrally linked with GE's CF34 product engineering resources. Also, the Strother operation has three test cells for CF34 engine configurations. CF34 MCPH program benefits include predictable maintenance costs, reduced financial risk and internal administration, customer-oriented metrics, world-class overhaul workmanship, low life-cycle cost, and consistent and competitive turntimes. GE assumes maintenance responsibility for the engines, performs agreed-upon services and then invoices for a predetermined price per flight hour.A CF34 MCPH program can encompass all maintenance that should be done in a given period. Designed to provide Challenger operators with coverage to fit their needs, the service plans are offered at three levels:
